Are you a people person with organisational skills and an interest in farmland wildlife? Would you like to utilise these skills and have 1-2 days a week to spare during the busier spring/summer months?

We are looking for a volunteer who can assist with administrative and logistical tasks as part of the Volunteer Monitoring of Farm Wildlife (VMFW) team, providing support with all aspects of the project. This is a diverse role with plenty of scope to use your skills and learn new ones. This is a home-based role.

The VMFW project aims to link volunteers, both experienced and new, with farmers across England to survey their on-farm wildlife. Our vision is for a sustainable, cost-effective volunteer wildlife survey service for farmers that generates tangible conservation benefits. Our overall aims are to: • Evaluate if and how data collection by citizen science can contribute to both farmer’s requirements and to wider local and national evidence needs. • Work towards improving Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). • Engage with wider knowledge sharing and collaboration across partnerships.

Appropriate training will be provided. You will be provided with an RSPB laptop and set up with access to the RSPB computer network so you can comfortably carry out your role at home.

This is a rewarding and enjoyable role. You will be part of a small and friendly team of staff and volunteers. This is a chance to gain experience in working with people of all ages and to learn new skills and develop existing ones. There is room for development within the role, an opportunity to volunteer for additional days or role-share. You'd be helping us to ensure that volunteers have a rewarding and enjoyable time with us. It's a wonderful opportunity to make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation.

What you’ll be doing: Volunteer Project Coordinators undertake a wide range of tasks, including:

• Being a first point of contact for our survey volunteers and farmers. • Monitoring project inboxes and responding to enquiries. • Assisting with recruiting project volunteers. • Coordinating survey work including matching of survey volunteers with the farms taking part in the project. • Assist with mapping and data related tasks. • Assist with project media such as creation of project newsletters, leaflets and survey result outputs • Use of RSPB online systems to manage volunteer admin and file storage

Skills needed:

• Excellent organisational skills. • You need to be a great people person, friendly and approachable. • Ability to lead and inspire others and work as part of a team. • A good level of computer literacy. • Be an excellent record keeper.
